After launch, the first returning character in book two stays free
Before you ever pay, you'll hear the moat. Open book two: Castwright will recognise the first character who appeared in book one and cast them in the same voice. That's the series memory — and that first reunion will be on us.
Why seven dollars, once
Subscriptions are a tax on engagement. We want you to make as many audiobooks as you like — not pay more for making more. Seven dollars covers the cost of keeping Castwright healthy and improving; it doesn't grow with your library.
The series memory, cross-book voice library, and companion app are the features that take infrastructure to maintain. At launch, the Cast Pass will pay for that infrastructure once, forever, for you. No metering. No renewal. No cliff.
No renewal for you — the renewals are ours. Putting an installer on Windows and macOS without security warnings takes code-signing certificates and Apple notarisation; putting the listener app on the App Store and Google Play takes developer accounts and review. Those licensing and certification fees come back every year — they're the price of making Castwright installable by almost anyone, and the Cast Pass is how we cover them.
The renewals, itemised
-
Windows
code-signing certificate, renewed annually
-
macOS
Developer ID signing + notarisation
-
App Store
developer account + app review
-
Google Play
developer account + app review
The official store badges arrive when the apps do.
